Can you briefly explain what clients get for the price they pay? What's included in a typical session or program?

At CALMSS, every session is designed to offer far more than time in a room—it is a meaningful investment in emotional wellbeing, safety, and long-term resilience. The price of each session reflects not only the time spent with a qualified practitioner, but the quality, depth, and individual care each child, young person, or family receives.

What’s included in a typical session or programme:

A fully qualified therapist or practitioner, with specialist training in trauma-informed care, play therapy, and youth mental health

A personalised therapeutic plan, tailored to the child or young person's emotional and developmental needs

Access to a safe, welcoming space, either in our CALMSS office or in a school/community setting, designed to promote comfort and trust

Use of creative resources, including art materials, sensory tools, movement-based activities, and therapeutic play equipment

Ongoing preparation and reflective planning by your therapist before and after each session

Optional liaison with parents, schools, or other professionals to ensure joined-up care, with your consent

Emotional tools and strategies children can use beyond the session to build long-term confidence and regulation

A flexible, relational approach that honours the pace, personality, and lived experience of the young person

Each CALMSS session is led with warmth, consistency, and professional integrity, offering children and families a space where they are truly seen, supported, and guided with care.

How does your pricing compare to other psychologists or services in the Lancashire area? What makes your services a worthwhile investment?

Compared to many private psychology and counselling services in the Ilkeston area, CALMSS offers highly competitive rates while maintaining exceptional standards of care, training, and emotional safety. Where typical therapy sessions can range from £65 to £120 per hour, CALMSS provides specialist support at a significantly more accessible price, with sessions starting at just £10 for group work and £45 for one-to-one therapeutic play.

Our prices reflect not only professional qualifications, but also the depth of our emotional commitment, the breadth of our training, and the uniquely relational approach we take with every child and young person.

What makes CALMSS a truly worthwhile investment?

You are working with a qualified psychologist and Level 7 Advanced Diploma Play Therapist, actively engaged in PhD research in mental health.

Sessions are child-centred, creative, and trauma-informed, rather than purely clinical or transactional.

Families receive support from someone who offers not only professional expertise, but lived understanding, empathy, and ongoing care.

We offer a safe, nurturing space, thoughtfully designed to welcome children, teens, and families with warmth and dignity.

Flexible, interest-free payment plans are available, ensuring that cost does not become a barrier to care.

While others may offer appointments, CALMSS offers consistency, connection, and a genuine commitment to helping young people grow emotionally, socially, and mentally—on their own terms and at their own pace.
