Emotional Wellbeing Support (Ages 16–21)
Discover how CALMSS provides specialist emotional wellbeing and crisis support for young people aged 16-21. We offer expert therapeutic care in a safe, compassionate space, empowering them to navigate life's challenges with confidence.

Transformation Through Trust
At CALMSS, young people aged sixteen to twenty-one often arrive burdened by emotional overwhelm, silenced by years of not being heard, or adrift from any clear sense of who they are. Some carry trauma that has never been named, while others simply feel lost in a world that expects resilience without offering safety. What they all have in common is the quiet hope that something could be different.
Through our trauma-informed, relational approach, we create a space where trust can be rebuilt, where emotions can be understood rather than feared, and where identity is gently reclaimed. In time, and with care, we begin to witness the most remarkable transformations. Self-doubt begins to soften into self-belief, and the weight of isolation gives way to meaningful connection. A sense of purpose starts to take root, not because we tell young people who they should be, but because they are finally given the space to become who they truly are.

How We Nurture Growth
At CALMSS, transformation is nurtured, never rushed. We recognise that meaningful change cannot be forced, nor should it be bound by rigid expectation. Instead, we walk alongside each young person, co-creating a personalised support plan that is grounded in trust, emotional safety, and mutual respect. This relationship forms the heart of our work, allowing therapeutic progress to unfold at a pace that honours the individual’s unique story.
A key part of our process involves SMART goal setting, Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. These goals offer a gentle but structured pathway through which young people can explore what matters to them, set intentions that are truly their own, and develop a sense of accomplishment as each step is achieved.
Though therapists are often taught to maintain emotional distance, at CALMSS we hold a different belief. We care, deeply. We care enough to listen without judgement, to stay consistent when others cannot, and to offer real, relational presence in a world that often expects young people to cope alone. Our compassion is not a breach of professionalism, but the foundation of it.

A Holistic Approach to Wellbeing
Alongside SMART goal setting, we provide a broad range of evidence-informed therapeutic interventions, thoughtfully designed to meet young people at their own emotional and developmental stage. This includes trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Attachment-Based Therapy (ABT), both of which support the exploration of thoughts, behaviours, and relationships within a safe, structured environment.
Our approach also incorporates Person-Centred Therapy, which creates a gentle and non-directive space where young people feel accepted, understood, and free to explore their experiences at their own pace. In addition, we offer Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, which helps individuals to recognise their own strengths and resources, and to move towards meaningful, achievable change.
Therapeutic listening, mindfulness practices, and somatic regulation techniques are embedded throughout our work, as are creative methods of expression, including drama, movement, and narrative-based exploration. These therapeutic interventions are delivered through a combination of individual and group sessions, always adapted to the needs of the young person.
Alongside therapeutic work, we offer life planning support and guidance relating to education, training, and employment opportunities. Our intention is to enable young people to enter adulthood with greater clarity, confidence, and emotional resilience, and to walk alongside them as they rediscover their identity and their voice.
"From crisis to confidence, CALMSS offers not just help, but a long-term commitment to growth and a future worth building."
